Darby Nelson taught biology and environmental science at Anoka-Ramsey Community College for 35 years and served three terms as a Minnesota state legislator. He has now written For Love of Lakes, which has recently been nominated for a Minnesota Book Award. Darby and his wide Geri have decided to donate all of the proceeds from the sale of the book to Conservation Minnesota. Continue reading

Spring 2012: Voters approved it…We are protecting it.

Conservation Minnesota played a lead role in passing the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment approved by voters in 2008. Now we have taken on the challenge of making sure the money is spent wisely and the public is kept informed. We’re helping protect the funds from being diverted for inappropriate projects like a new Vikings stadium and creating partnerships to celebrate the Legacy. Continue reading

The Line: The Line’s Worst Bill Ever

At first glance SF1922/HF2169 looks like it’s just adding some additional rule reporting requirements for agencies. But if you read all the way to the end the bill requires Governor Dayton and the Legislature to take an exhaustive look at the thousands of rules currently guiding the DNR, PCA, EQB, BWSR, and the Department of Ag. …and then it goes ahead and repeals them all effective August 1, 2013.
