Emily, Minnesota, is a perfect example of what is great here in Minnesota. It’s an off-the-beaten-path natural beauty, which is framed by mixed-species forests and ringed by lakes teeming with fish and waterfowl. While true the abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities make it a year-round destination, I tend to visit most frequently in the spring and then again in the fall. Fishing season opener in the spring and duck hunting season opener in the fall are annual traditions nearly as sacred to me as Christmas and Thanksgiving. And, unlike some family holidays, Emily NEVER disappoints. For the non-sportsperson, there are an abundance of hiking, biking and water recreation opportunities. The town has a few old family-owned resorts and even a couple of hotel rooms. The epicurean in your circle may find the local menus wanting, but for those born and raised on small-town bar food, this place is nirvana.
