Conservation Minnesota

Thank you for supporting habitat and clean water in Minnesota!

One of the most important jobs for the Legislature this year was passing the state’s regular capital investment bill, which is also known as the bonding bill. The bonding bill is an important source of funding for long-term investments in habitat protection, parks, trails, and water quality projects.

Thanks to your help, the bonding bill approved by the Legislature and the Governor included $6 million for Reinvest in Minnesota (RIM) Reserve conservation easements that provide valuable wildlife habitat and protect our lakes and rivers by reducing run-off. However, while this  is a solid investment, it is far below the $20 million identified by the Board of Water and Soil Resources as the amount needed to meet the current statewide demand for these easements. Many legislators have already expressed their hope that the next bonding bill will include more funding for these critical investments.

Please take a minute to thank your legislators for including RIM easements in this year’s bonding bill – and urge them to increase funding for RIM in the next bonding bill – by clicking here.

And, we want to sincerely thank so many of YOU who have already contacted your representatives and urged them to support habitat and water quality in Minnesota. Your voices are the key to protecting Minnesota’s Great Outdoors!
