History

Volunteers organized the Minnesota League of Conservation Voters in 1984 to help connect Minnesotans who care about conservation with elected decision makers in the State Capitol.  On July 1, 2002, an affiliated charitable organization was launched with its own Board of Directors, a part time executive director, and a part time program manager.  Today, this organization is called Conservation Minnesota.

In the past few years, Conservation Minnesota’s programs and impact have expanded to include the only comprehensive analysis of the state conservation budget and innovative tools and communications that keep Minnesotans informed as they enjoy and protect our state’s natural resources. We have helped Minnesotans shape job-producing clean energy policies, water cleanup, habitat protection and the 2008 Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment to the State Constitution.

Today, the Conservation Minnesota family of organizations includes Conservation Minnesota, Conservation Minnesota Voter Center, and the Conservation Minnesota Voter Fund.  Each of these affiliated organizations plays an important role in helping Minnesotans turn their love of the great outdoors into the laws that protect it for future generations.
