Alida Messinger

Alida Messinger is one of Minnesota’s most active philanthropists.  Her career has focused on environmental organizations that support Renewable Energy, Sustainable Development, Clean Water and Wilderness Protection.  Alida is also committed to Economic Justice for Women and Children, and projects promoting state based Voter Engagement and Mobilization.

In the past, she has served on the boards of the Population Council, Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, the Minnesota Council for the Humanities, KTCA – Minnesota Public Television, the Headwaters Foundation for Justice, the MS Foundation for Women, and the Rockefeller Family Fund. She is also a founder of the Headwaters Foundation for Justice and WIN Minnesota.

Alida received the 2008 Minnesota DFL Party Award for Environmental Stewardship, the 2010 League of Conservation Voters Award for Environmental Leadership and the 2010 America Votes – Cecile Richards Progressive Leader Award.
