CM Press Release: New Website Tracks Legislative Voting Records On Conservation

MINNEAPOLIS – A new website launched today by Conservation Minnesota will allow voters to check the voting record of their legislators on the key conservation votes as decisions are being made.

Checkmylegislator.org is intended to make it simple for Minnesotans to become more engaged in tracking the issues they care about and share information and opinions with friends, networks, and elected leaders.

“Minnesotans love our lakes and great outdoors.  But with busy lives and families, very few people have time to keep track of decisions that impact these valuable resources,” Said Paul Austin, Executive Director of Conservation Minnesota.  “CheckMyLegisltor.org brings an entirely new level of transparency to important decisions that often go unnoticed.  Making it easy for Minnesotans to stay informed can only lead to better decisions for our states future.”

The website currently lists approximately a dozen key votes for each legislator over the past two sessions. When the legislature reconvenes next January, new bills of interest will be added in real time to allow people to stay up to the minute on the progress of conservation issues.

Organized by volunteers in 1984 as the Minnesota League of Conservation Voters, Conservation Minnesota strives to help Minnesotans who care about conservation connect with their elected officials.  Today, Conservation Minnesota’s family of organizations includes the Conservation Minnesota Voter Center and the Conservation Minnesota Voter Fund.
