Recovering America’s Wildlife Act is a Must for Minnesota

Congress needs to pass the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act before the end of the year.

Anyone who has spent quality time in Minnesota knows we have a unique state full of amazing landscapes, beautiful parks, and iconic wildlife. Moose, bear, wolves, and the occasional mountain lion all roam our Great Outdoors. Minnesota is also home to hundreds of species of plants and animals that are endangered, threatened, or of special concern. Animals like the Canada lynx, burrowing owl, Blanding’s turtle, and paddlefish face increased pressure and risk due to fragmented habitat, pollution, and our changing climate.

The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act would be the largest investment in wildlife conservation in a generation and the first federal conservation program that would guarantee sustained funding for Tribal Nations to manage and preserve wildlife. This $1.4 billion annual investment could mean millions of dollars each year for Minnesota to implement wildlife action plans and support efforts to recover wildlife identified as threatened or endangered. This bipartisan bill, co-sponsored by Minnesota’s Senator Amy Klobuchar, has cleared the US House of Representatives and must now be brought to a floor vote for passage in the Senate.
