Minnesota’s Legacy Amendment funds provide many great environmental benefits across the state—but this year’s bill is currently stalled in the House. Please take a minute to ask your legislators to pass a Legacy Funding bill and support our environment.
Communities across our state need funding to support a range of clean water projects. From replacing outdated and toxic lead service lines for drinking water, to updating wastewater facilities to prevent downstream contamination, there is plenty of work to be done. One of the best tools for doing this work is through the bonding bill—a large spending package from the legislature which helps pay for critical infrastructure projects.
Paraquat is one of the most toxic herbicides still in use in the United States. Even small amounts of exposure could be fatal—and research has linked it to long-term health impacts, including an increased risk of Parkinson’s disease. Beyond health risks, paraquat can persist in soil for years and harm wildlife, water quality, and ecosystems.
Ask your legislators to support HF3965/SF4160, a bipartisan bill that would prohibit paraquat in Minnesota.
Battery waste is dangerous, detrimental to the environment, and costly to Minnesotans. A new bill (SF 1690/HF 1426) would require battery manufacturers to fully fund the collection of all electronic waste, so it can be recycled responsibly, at no cost to Minnesotans.
Lead service lines remain a persistent threat to Minnesota—and there is no safe level of lead consumption. While the Minnesota legislature considers funding to continue the work of replacing lead service lines, please take a moment to ask your legislators to approve these funds.
