Our State's Financial Commitment to Protecting Our Natural Resources
Many parts of the state budget impact conservation and, until 2002, even the legislators voting on the budgets didn’t have a complete picture. That’s the year Conservation Minnesota put together the first comprehensive analysis of the multiple agencies, dedicated funds, and bonding initiatives that make up the state’s commitment to protecting our natural resources.
Our analysis first revealed the fact that conservation spending had reached a 30 year low, motivating Minnesotans to pass the Clean Water, Land, & Legacy Amendment.
The report now serves as a primary data source for the media, legislators, organizations, and state government departments in setting annual priorities.
