About this Legislation
Chief Author

This amendment would fund an environmental justice cumulative impact analysis and emissions monitoring equipment.

Low-income communities, communities of color, and Tribal communities have historically been disproportionately exposed to pollution linked to negative health and quality of life outcomes. Environmental justice seeks to remedy these inequities. This amendment provides funding and ensures that environmental disparities in vulnerable and under-resourced communities are studied and considered.

Status

The amendment failed, and funding for an environmental justice impact analysis was not included in the Senate Environment Omnibus bill. The bill now proceeds to Conference Committee to be combined with the House’s version of the Environment Omnibus bill.

What a no means

A "no" vote does not create a program for implementing environmental justice cumulative impact analysis.

What a yes would have meant

A "yes" vote creates a program for implementing environmental justice cumulative impact analysis. If enacted, this provision would provide appropriations to study and consider the environmental disparities experienced by low-income and communities of color.
