Removing Anti-Clean Cars Language | A15 (HF 4293)

Senate voted No
| May 2, 2022
About this Legislation
Offered the Amendment

Clean Cars Minnesota is an initiative to tackle climate pollution and decrease Minnesota’s emissions of greenhouse gases. These vehicle emissions standards will reduce transportation pollution from new cars and light-duty trucks and increase the number of pollution-free vehicles for sale. Language included in Senate HF 4293 seeks to end the MPCA’s ability to implement these rules and to preclude any future use of emission standards for motorized vehicles and equipment. This amendment removes the bill language blocking the MPCA's ability and allowing the State to continue regulating these emissions.

Status

The amendment failed and anti-Clean Cars language was not removed from the Senate State Government and Transportation bill

What a no means

A "no" vote keeps anti-Clean Cars language in the bill, preventing the MPCA from regulating emissions from motorized vehicles and equipment.

What a yes would have meant

A "yes" vote removes language prohibiting the MPCA from regulating emissions from motorized vehicles and equipment through rules such as Clean Cars Minnesota.
