Roadblocks for EV Infrastructure | A17 (HF 4293)

Senate voted Yes
| May 2, 2022
About this Legislation
Offered the Amendment

To support accessibility and viability for zero-emissions electric vehicles, Minnesota needs to build out electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

This amendment prevents the State from installing convenient charging stations at rest stops and precludes the use of incoming federal funding through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act on public electric vehicle charging stations. This amendment holds up the build out of EV infrastructure and limits the ease of electric vehicle use in Minnesota.

Status

The amendment passed and roadblocks inhibiting the build out of EV infrastructure were included in the Senate State Government and Transportation bill.

What a yes means

A "yes" vote removes language allowing electric vehicle charging stations to be installed at rest areas and prohibits the use of federal funding for EV infrastructure on public land.

What a no would have meant

A "no" vote rejects obstructing the build out of EV infrastructure and allows the construction of charging stations at rest areas and on public land.
