Supporting EVs in Minnesota | A41 (HF 4293)

Senate voted No
| May 2, 2022
About this Legislation
Offered the Amendment

Minnesota's transportation sector is the largest source of climate change-causing pollution, contributing over 40 million tons of CO2 equivalent every year. Studies show increasing the number of electric vehicles on the road will reduce carbon pollution.

The State Government and Transportation Omnibus Bill included language that creates additional barriers to EV adoption, and increases fees placed on electric vehicles.

This amendment removes these fee increases and instead requires the Department of Transportation to plan for the expansion of electric vehicle infrastructure.

Status

The amendment failed and fee increases for electric vehicles remained in the Senate State Government and Transportation bill.

What a no means

A "no" vote rejects the creation of an EV infrastructure deployment plan and keeps barriers for EVs through fee increases.

What a yes would have meant

A "yes" vote removes additional fees placed on electric vehicles and requires the establishment of an EV infrastructure deployment plan.
