About this Legislation
Chief Author

Acknowledges in statute that anthropocentric greenhouse gas emissions are the leading cause of climate change in SF 972.

An overwhelming consensus of climate scientists agree that climate change is real and that anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions are its leading cause. This amendment proposes to put this recognition into statute.

Status

The amendment failed, and the acknowledgement that anthropocentric sources of greenhouse gas emissions are the leading cause of climate change was not included the Energy & Commerce Omnibus bill. The bill now proceeds to Conference Committee to be combined with the House’s version of the Energy & Commerce Omnibus bill.

What a no means

A "no" vote refuses to acknowledge that human-created greenhouse gas emissions are the leading cause of climate change.

What a yes would have meant

A "yes" vote would have acknowledged that human-created greenhouse gas emissions are the leading cause of climate change.
