About this Legislation
Co-author(s)

The use of lead tackle and ammunition results in the poisoning of wildlife and the eventual exposure of Minnesotans to lead contamination. There is no safe level of exposure to lead, and exposure can result in dangerous health impacts, especially for children and pregnant women. This amendment seeks to avoid unnecessary lead contamination by banning the use, sale, and manufacture of lead tackle and hunting ammunition.

Status

The amendment failed and lead tackle and ammunition prohibitions were not included in the Senate Environment and Natural Resources Omnibus bill.

What a no means

A "no" vote rejects lead tackle and ammunition bans, keeping a source of lead contamination in our environment.

What a yes would have meant

A "yes" vote prohibits lead in the manufacture of fishing tackle and hunting ammunition, reducing lead contamination for wildlife and Minnesotans.
