SF 1955 (Putnam) is the omnibus bill for Minnesota’s Department of Agriculture, Board of Animal Health, Agricultural Utilization Research Institute, and Office of Broadband.

The Agriculture, Broadband, and Rural Development Omnibus Bill includes funding to: 

  • protect soil and water, including soil health equipment grants, the Forever Green Initiative, and living cover crop grants; to promote fuel innovation, including biofuels infrastructure grants
  • to promote food and land access, including the Good Food Access Program, the Good Acre LEAFF Program, and Emerging Farmers Office Expansion
  • to support other meaningful programs, including climate implementation coordination and a PFAS pesticide report. 

Notably, SF 1955 also includes policy language to prohibit the use of intentionally added PFAS in agricultural pesticides.

Status

SF 1955 passed the House and Senate and was signed into law by the governor.

What a yes means

A "yes" vote repasses SF 1955 and funding is approved for agricultural sustainability programs.

What a no would have meant

A "no" vote does not repass SF 1955 and funding for agricultural sustainability programs is rejected.
