SF 1955 (Vang) is the budget bill for Minnesota’s Department of Agriculture, Board of Animal Health, Agricultural Utilization Research Institute, and Office of Broadband.
The Agriculture, Broadband, and Rural Development Omnibus Bill included several conservation-related funding provisions, including:
- protect soil and water, including soil health equipment grants, the Forever Green Initiative, and living cover crop grants
- promote fuel innovation, including biofuels infrastructure grants
- promote food and land access, including the Good Food Access Program, the Good Acre LEAFF Program, and Emerging Farmers Office Expansion
- support other meaningful programs, including climate implementation coordination and a PFAS pesticide report
Notably, SF 1955 also includes policy language to prohibit the use of intentionally added PFAS in agricultural pesticides.
