About this Legislation
Chief Author

This amendment would withhold funding from the Pollution Control Agency until the agency withdraws rulemaking for Clean Cars Minnesota.

Clean Cars Minnesota is an initiative to tackle climate pollution and decrease Minnesota’s emissions of greenhouse gases. These vehicle emissions standards will reduce transportation pollution from new cars and light-duty trucks and increase the number of pollution-free vehicles for sale. If enacted, Minnesota would join 14 states and the District of Columbia in adopting these standards.

By withholding agency funding, this amendment would effectively end Clean Cars Minnesota rulemaking.

Status

The amendment failed and language toward ending Clean Cars Minnesota rulemaking was not included in SF 20. SF 20 was passed and signed into law, clearing the way for implementation of improved vehicle standards and availability.

What a no means

A "no" vote rejects the amendment and maintains funding for the Pollution Control Agency while allowing the agency to continue implementing Clean Cars Minnesota rulemaking.

What a yes would have meant

A "yes" vote adds language to SF 20 to defund the Pollution Control Agency unless the agency ends its Clean Cars Minnesota rulemaking.
